A Little Recap

On Thursday, Cannon earned another arrow point in addition to participating in his first Pinewood Derby. He is so excited about Scouts right now - and we are VERY grateful for his leader who dedicates so much time and energy to the scouting program. Thanks Lisa! We are also happy (?!?) to report that Cannon and his Captain Underpants car took 2nd place -- and will therefore be competing at the District race on April 4th.
On Wednesday, we had to tag-team the kids and all of the events. Brynnley had an art show at preschool, Cannon had to weigh-in and impound his car for the pinewood derby, and we had a kindergarten information night. Greg took the 4 older kids to the art show and weigh-in. I took Cambrie (and waited in line outside the building) to the info. night. Luckily, I finished up just in time to pop-in to B's school to take a quick peek at her works of wonder. I'm glad everything happened on a night when Greg was actually home - and grateful for Greg's dad who offered to help out if necessary.
The first thing Kenzie said the morning of her birthday was, "It's my birthday and I don't have a birthday hat." Strange comment... But, Brynnley took heart and during naptime, made Kenzie a hat.
We celebrated with cousins and grandparents after the ward basketball game. For the first time in his history, Greg played on a team with a perfect record -- a perfect LOSING record that is. Oh well - there's always next year when they are all a year older.

Spring Has Sprung and Kenzie is 3

Kenzie shares her birthday with the first day of Spring...and just like the season, she adds light and life to the world. It's hard to believe she's already 3. Happy Birthday little Kenzie-Cola!

Signs of Spring

Ok, so it's too early to think it will last...but we sure are lovin' the 60's this week! We took Cambrie for her first walk (and second, and third), played baseball, went to the park, broke out some sandals as well as bubbles and sidewalk chalk.

Additionally, SOME of us took off our coats...while others of us traded in the winter coat for a jacket. We drove with the windows down AND...cheered when we saw that the tulips are starting to peek above ground. There is HOPE.

Did I mention it was only 60 degrees?

Sidenote to Greg: This was my idea of a great 14th anniversary! Thanks for a good one. Here's to the next round of family fun and chaos~!

I Rest My Case (and no, I am not really offended)

At Cambrie's check-up (2.5 months), the nurse said, "So, is she here for her 6 month appointment?" Ummm...not exactly.

Then, the Dr. said, "Oh, she is just sooooo pretty! What an absolutely beautiful little girl." Turning to me she said, "She must look just like her daddy because she doesn't look like you at all."

Ok. Thanks.

Seriously though, I am not offended. I think my children are beautiful -- what mother doesn't? I don't care who they look like. I claim their personalities -- at least until they turn 3.

Oh - and for the record, Cambrie was 15.5 pounds and 24". No wonder the 3 month onesies don't fit.

Any Similarities?

Any mother has likely heard this before: "Oh, what a beautiful baby," or, "Oh, my goodness, they are so sweet and just absolutely darling."
There are many ways to gush over a newborn...you get the idea.

And what proud new momma doesn't love to hear the compliments followed by, "And they look just like their daddy?"

WHAT?! Excuse me? Sure, dad played a role in the creation of this little beauty...but dad certainly wasn't the one throwing up for 9 months. Dad wasn't the one who was so exhausted that he mailed the thank you notes without ever putting the recipient's address on them. (Yes, I did that just last week - sorry Melissa!) I'm pretty sure that when dad gets on the scale, it doesn't register 40 pounds heavier than it did last year at this time. And no, dad didn't live with a migraine more often than not in order to get this little angel here and healthy. (Ok, I retract that last statement...dad did have to live with ME for the past 9 months!)

Well, I am jealous no more. Sure, my kids might look like their dads (not a bad thing, since I myself am attracted to him.) Most of their appearance might resemble him...but, as these pictures CLEARLY demonstrate...

They get their thunder thighs, round cheeks and multiple chins from their mother.

And there you go.

Granted, they will likely never thank me for contributing those attributes...

PS - my children only have one father...and they all have the same father. (See sentence above which reads "my kids might look like their dadS.) What was that I said about sleep deprivation and migraines?

Cambrie's Blessing

Cambrie got to share her blessing day (March 8, 2009) with her cousin, Payton, as well as all aunts, uncles (minus Donovan) and cousins on Greg's side of the family. It was fun to have Karolyn and Lauren (Greg's aunt and cousin) in town to join the festivities. It was a nice day, despite the fact that I threw my back out on Friday and could barely move. We only wish there could have been some Purcell representatives as well.

Where are all the boys? And the children?

Oh yeah....they weren't invited! Thanks to my mother-in-law and sisters-in-law for a fun Girl's Only Lunch. It was great...and much cheaper than therapy!

Who knew? Winter CAN be fun.

Going to an indoor water park, in March, with 13 kids, ages 10 an under, and 8 adults makes for a fun, albeit, a bit chaotic, 30+ hours! Such a fun memory to visit Kalahari with the cousins and aunts and uncles.
