Election Day

What did you do on Election Day? Besides vote, of course?

We took advantage of 70 degrees, blue skies, and sunshine.

The only thing that would have made our picnic and volleyball more complete was if Greg had been able to come with us. I told the kids to burn this day into their memories...and reflect on it often once the weather turns and winter rears its ugly head for 6 months or so.

So PC...

Saturday, at the food court at the mall:

Kenzie (age 5): "There are a lot of China people here."

Brynnley (age 8): "They prefer to be called Native Americans."

We laughed and laughed...and then laughed more a few minutes later when Brynnley (seemingly in slow-motion) slid right off her chair and onto the floor.

Ahh...good times at the new food court.

Did we miss a holiday?

For the ward party, we had a football player, a cheerleader and a princess.

I'm with Cambrie...just eat the donut the easiest way possible.

Don't ask...we were just Warrior Dash survivors.
On Halloween, we had another princess -- with her Cousin Payton, the Witch.

A disgusting amount of candy...which I had to continually hide in different places.

We are a very beastly family...with 3 vampires this year...what else can we be called?

What happened to the days where we just did triangle eyes and a nose with a toothless grin?

I LOVE being able to recycle costumes. Cambrie is wearing the princess costume my mom gave Addysen when she was about 3. Kenzie is wearing the Cinderella costume that Addysen helped to purchase when she was 7 or 8. (Yes, I did make my child help purchase her costume. There is a story behind that. I can't remember it right now...but there is a story behind it. Right now, I am just kicking myself for spending an hour updating my blog...a precious hour that I could have spent sleeping!)

Young politician...

Our conversation at breakfast this morning:

Kenzie: Mom, What is a school billy?
Me: I don't know. Do you mean school bully?
Kenzie: Yeah! What is that?
Me: A bully is someone who is mean and teases other people.
Kenzie (head hanging and looking dejected): No, that isn't it. Great. I forgot the word and I'm supposed to tell you to vote for it.
Me: OH! You mean SCHOOL LEVY?
Kenzie (brigtening): YEAH! That's it. What does it mean?
Me: It means they want more money for the schools.
Kenzie: Oh. Well in that case, VOTE NO. I don't want any of OUR money to go to SCHOOL.
