A little neighborhood excitement

We had a little neighborhood excitement on my birthday. While we never heard exactly what happened (seizure, drunk driving?), sadly, a man crashed his car into the stone pillar right across the street from our house. That was after he drove up and over the lawn on the neighbor's yard across the other street. Amazingly, no one else was at the stop sign, no kids were getting off the bus and only one car was involved. Clearly, being the good, nosy neighbors that we are, we did what anyone would do...and promptly went upstairs to the master bedroom window...and took pictures.

Daddy Daughter Dance

A girl's first corsage should come from her dad.

Had to get a group shot of all the kids.

On Saturday, Greg took the girls to the Daddy-Daughter Dance in Strongsville. While Addysen wasn't nearly as excited to go this year, Kenzie counted down to it for days -- literally. This was her first opportunity being "old enough" and she couldn't wait. The corsages were a hit for the girls, as was the dancing, and ice cream with Ted and Brooklyn afterwards. Overall, good memories.
Cannon, Cambrie and I had our own date night. It included shopping for some new pants for Cannon and dinner at the food court at the mall. Good times.

A red carpet weekend

Perhaps it was just a mock red-carpet weekend. But still, it was a lot of fun to attend the CCM National & Executive Director's training weekend in Toledo last week. On Friday night, there was a cocktail hour, complete with a press conference and live interviews as they announced the "Number 1 Draft Picks". (Some great new opportunities are also being added to the company's compensation plan and we are excited about that.) Saturday consisted of training and more training. All in all, it was a good, quick, get-away and we are grateful to Greg's parents for watching the kids so we could attend.

Watch out WNBA

Ok, so maybe the recruiters aren't scouting out the Kerr's...just yet. But, basketball season is off and running and we're having lots of fun around here. Although she hasn't really ever played before (does 2nd grade rec league in Cleveland Heights count? Admittedly, her coaches were stellar (me coaching from the sidelines while pushing Brynnley back and forth in her stroller), but, still, she lacked experience compared to all of her teammates.
And yet, she managed to earn herself a starting position and has continued to improve with each game. What she might lack in talent or experience, she more than makes up for in determination and desire.
Tuesday was her best game -- scoring 8 points and numerous rebounds. So far, the team is 4-1. Now, if only she didn't come home each night detailing a new injury....

I could never have imagined how fun it would be to watch my kids play...

Porcupine Tree

Kenzie just ran out the door for school. Just before getting on the bus, she turned around and excitedly said, "I just saw a bird fly into the porcupine tree!"
I don't know if she was excited about the actual bird....or the porcupine tree...whatever that is.
